Enter Another of The Five:
After deciding to leave the island, our favorite smoldering vampire Damon is captured by a hunter named Galen Vaughn who happens to be one of The Five Hunters. Vaughn explains that it is his responsibility as one of The Five to raise Silas and to shove the cure down his throat in order to destroy him before all hell breaks loose. Under Vaughn's apprehension, the two scavenge the woods in search of the well that holds the tomb of the ultimate immortal being Silas.

Away from the rest of the group, Shane leads Bonnie and Jeremy to the well and into the crypt of Silas. As the three climb the rope down into the tomb, Bonnie cuts her hand where her blood coincidentally falls into the mouth of the corpse of Silas. For those who don't remember, when blood enters Silas' tomb, one is able to see a loved one who is deceased. Dun Dun Dun! With the power of expression on her side, Bonnie is able to open the door to Silas' tomb with the assistance of Jeremy's tattoo. As the door opens, the tomb begins to quake allowing small boulders to crash down. Poor Shane breaks his leg in the wreckage so Jeremy and Bonnie leave him behind as they search for the corpse of Silas.
As they walk further into the catacombs, Bonnie is able to see the ghost of her Grams who tries to convince Bonnie that Silas can bring her back from the dead. Hmm.. that doesn't sound like the real Grams does it? You know, the one who was against dark magic? Anyways, luckily Jeremy sweeps in and is able to bring Bonnie to reality telling her that her Grams is not real and is only an illusion. With that being said, they realize that Silas has the ability to get inside the minds of those whose blood he consumes; therefore the ghost of Shane's wife was only Silas controlling Shane the entire time.

Back in Mystic Falls:
Tyler and newly hybrid-ized Caroline continue to babysit Klaus who is still spellbound in Elena's living room. In trying to assist their friends on the island, the two find the Hunter's Sword in the attic of Klaus' home and discover the handle conceals a crypt text that can translate the map to the tomb. Of course there is a catch and unfortunately, only Klaus can assist them as they attempt to translate a dead language. Oddly enough, Klaus agrees to translate the crypt code for them and reveals a flabbergasting surprise-- there is only one dose of the cure! As Caroline and Tyler call Rebekah's cell phone to inform the group of the news, Klaus admits that he hopes Rebekah will live and die as she wishes and quickly exclaims the big discovery concerning the cure before Tyler hangs up the phone.

Realizing that Klaus won't be stuck in Elena's house forever, Caroline pleads to Klaus not to kill Tyler once he is released from the spell. Of course Klaus refuses but after Caroline reveals that given the chance, she would not take the cure because she prefers her life as a vampire, Klaus reconsiders. He agrees to show Tyler mercy for Caroline's sake and that Tyler must immediately go far away where he can never be found and that this should be considered a head start. That being said, Tyler and Caroline say a tearful goodbye...until they can find a way to be together once more. Luckily for them, they are immortal so it's not like they are on limited time. Now that Tyler is out of the picture and Klaus is showing more of his "sensitive" side, could Klaroline fans finally get what they have been waiting for? Here's hoping!

The three remaining travelers, Elena, Rebekah, and Stefan are the last to reach their destination. Along the way, Rebekah chooses to inform Stefan and hide from Elena that there is only one dose of the cure. After learning that if she gave up the cure for Stefan, he would give it to Elena, Rebekah snaps Stefan's neck and separates from the group. When he comes to, Stefan finally brings Elena into the loop and tells her the key piece of information.

Into the Crypt:
Now that everyone has entered the catacombs, paths cross and shit gets real. Rebekah walks in on Vaughn attempting to kill Damon. In an epic battle of gadgets, reminiscent of Batman, poor Damon and Rebekah are left to recover as Vaughn goes off and searches for Silas. Elsewhere in the tomb, Elena encounters an old foe. Any guesses? Her doppleganger Catherine! Hell of a monkey wrench!
Bonnie and Jeremy finally encounter the corpse of Silas and see the cure held in his stone cold clutches. After struggling to remove the cure from Silas' hands, Bonnie comes to the realization that the only way to free the cure is to wake him up with their blood. Refusing to subject to bloodshed, Jeremy desperately continues to smash the cure out of the impenetrable hands.

Out of nowhere, Vaughn sneaks up behind Bonnie and stabs her in the back! Jeremy tries to fight off Vaughn but his hunter inexperience gets the best of him. Vaughn explains to Jeremy that together they must raise Silas and they must do it now. Just as Jeremy is about to receive a final blow from Vaughn, Elena comes to the rescue and knocks Vaughn out. But wait, is this really Elena? Nope, it's sneaky Catherine up to her old tricks. This is confirmed when we see Stefan stumbling upon a bleeding Elena alone in one of the tomb tunnels.
Without hesitation, Catherine feeds Jeremy to Silas and grabs the cure from his grasp before disappearing from the scene. Silas drains unlucky Jeremy and snaps his neck leaving us to believe he is good and dead. Say it ain't so! This kid just can't catch a break! And just when we thought him and Bonnie had another chance together. Just confirmation of why we love The Vampire Diaries; they always keep us on our toes.
