RECAP: The Carrie Diaries 1x5 - "Dangerous Territory"

Ever wonder what it would be like if The Carrie Diaries mixed with Gossip Girl? Neither did I and there is a reason for it. That combination is as good as grilled cheese and champagne. No bueno.

Welcome to the Upper East Side Ms. Bradshaw:
Carrie runs into an adorable old acquaintance named George Silver who is later revealed as the son of her father's best friend Harlan. After some eye gazing and charming conversation, George asks Carrie to his mother's extravagant "soiree". She rejects his offer but immediately reconsiders after seeing Sebastian and her arch-nemesis Donna making out in her rear view mirror just as she is about to parallel park for her drivers test. Needless to say she failed at that task and understandably so! Well Carrie came back with dream ammunition as she explained to Sebastian that she too has moved on with a guy named George in Manhattan.
Later in the evening Carrie meets George's mother; a typical socialite who favors the finer things. And whats this? Carrie doesn't know what "couture" means? On behalf of all Sex and the City fans I say HA! No worries young Carrie, you may not know it yet but future you will be one of the most influential fashionistas Manhattan has ever seen. After enduring a snob-fest of a dinner and a condescending ex-girlfriend named Blithe, the last straw for Carrie was walking in on George and his mother discussing his relationship with Carrie. According to mom-ster, Carrie doesn't understand their world or "how things work". Well in true Carrie fashion, the beauty said her peace and ran out of there! Luckily for her, George isn't a rich jerk like the guests at the soiree. He runs after her and tells her he wants "something real" with her. Swoon...
At each other's sides, Carrie and George confront his mother and tell her that they are leaving. Of course George's mom doesn't want to be left alone without her son after suffering a divorce from her jackass of a husband so she does what any mom would do, she fake balls her eyes out. Thank goodness Carrie has the balls to call out the mom's crying bit, and who would have guessed what would happen next. Well apparently George's mom didn't know Carrie was Carrie Bradshaw and reveals that she and Carrie's mom were very close friends! In fact, Carrie's mom loved the lavish life but left it behind for the good of the family. Didn't see that coming. Oh! and in the end Carrie got her license and realized it was time to move on from Sebastian.

Who knew how passionate Maggie was about the gang's hangout spot at the diner? Well what we did know is that Maggie is one tough cookie and no one is going to take over her friends' place without her saying anything about it! After having Carrie witness her make-out session with Sebastian, Donna LaDonna took it one step further by trying to take over the diner, Carrie's spot, because she knows it will upset Carrie. Everyone together now, BITCH! Here's to Maggie for using her "ass"-ets to protect what is rightfully the gangs. Even better, Maggie tattles on Donna to Sebastian that the only reason Donna is there is because she knows it is "Carrie's safe place". Being the gentleman that he can be, Sebastian tells Donna that she is better than that and that they are leaving the diner. Score 1 for team Carrie! MVP = Maggie.

Mouse in the Streets, but a Cat in the Sheets:
Now that Mouse and Seth are back together, they plan on having sex again for the first time since their break-up. Our poor little Mouse fears that she is not doing a good job at having sex with Seth and looks to Walt for guidance... since he is just so good at having sex with women (har har). The two leave it to the movies to teach them the ways of intercourse and bond over a sex-how-to video which is what taught Walt how to please Maggie in bed. Well Mouse must have taken some good notes because she definitely left an impression with Seth and with viewers when she took complete control in the bedroom! After several smiles and "wow"s, Seth is suspicious that Mouse must have learned her new moves from sleeping with someone else and before Mouse can muster a no, Seth admits that he slept with two girls during their break-up. Harsh much? Of course Mouse couldn't tell the truth so she did what any teenager would do and lied. In fact, she even said it was a guy named Walt who taught her. With jealous flare, Seth claimed he will bash Walt's face in if he ever sees him! Foreshadow anyone?

Eventually the group reunite at the diner after all their long days and who should finally meet but Seth and Walt. Finally Mouse comes clean and admits that she and Walt watched a sex-how-to video together and that she had never slept with another guy. Feeling like an ass, Seth apologizes for having a double standard.

Moving Forward and Moving On:
No Dorrit this time around but good 'ol dad made an appearance. Carrie's dad, a.k.a. Tom does the unthinkable and loses his wedding ring! After receiving some terrible advice from his loser of a best friend Harlan, Tom admits that he is not ready to date after losing his wife (Carrie's mom) to cancer just that year. As the story progressed, Tom accidentally hits a woman with the back of his car--who might I add came out of nowhere! Lady, what were you even doing there? Anyways, Tom drives the woman to her mom's house whom she is visiting and reveals that he is not married anymore. Not even a second goes by before a smile flashes on that woman's face. Cha-ching! Mr. Bradshaw got them digits in record time and while he may not be ready to date, he did realize that he is ready to move on.
